A good question was asked about
‘loading a new roof assembly’ into a project. The question was phrased to imply
that roofs and components could be handled the same way. If you want to change
your roof assembly to something you have seen elsewhere, follow these couple of
steps.
As far as roofs, you don't load
them the same as you do components. What you need to do is create the roof from
scratch. What I would suggest is picking a roof already loaded into your
project that has some similarity to what you want to create. Select the Create
roof tool and select that roof from your Properties
window. Next, click Edit type
In the Type Properties
menu that opens click Duplicate and name it whatever you'd like.
Now, click the box next to Construction>Structure
click Edit…
This will open the Edit Assembly
menu. This menu is where you create the roofing layers --apply the applicable
information so that your section show the layers, setting materials so that
renders are accurate, and set the materials so your annotations are handled
automatically.

In this menu, use the insert/delete
buttons to create the roof and make sure to add the correct thicknesses and
materials. I like keeping the Preview (bottom left button) open
to show the section of the roof I'm working on.
Once you're done, hit OK to
finalize everything and then OK again to get back to your model. It should now
reflect the changes and materials that you created.
